Switzerland - Thun

We had done a lot of mountains, so today we were switching it up and heading to the town of Thun.
This place was unexpected and reminded me of all the sweet towns that fairytales are made of.

I could have wandered these streets for days.

We worked our way to the top of the city where the Thun Castle stood. This was built around 1200 AD and had loads of history, but the kids were more interested in climbing the turrets and playing in medieval costumes.

After some more walking around, we took a boat ride across Lake Thun and marveled at all the grand houses and castles along the way.

When we returned to Lauterbrunnen, Allison and I still had a bit of steam left, so we went to explore Trummelbach Falls.
This is the only underground waterfall in Europe. It was actually ten waterfalls inside this mountain and the water was so close and rushing that I was glad the kids stayed back.
This is one where photos and video can’t really do this justice. It might be the greatest display of the power of water that I’ve ever seen.
The next morning, we said a reluctant “goodbye for now” to Camping Jungfrau, Switzerland and the many fields of flowers.

The force of the water looks amazing !
